We’re All Born Like the Cowardly Lion

How many of us live in fear?

How many of us have at one point or another allowed fear to dictate a decision, or prevent us from doing something?

I think we all have allowed fear to take over at one point or another, and I think that many of us still allow fear to control us, even if we don’t consciously realize it.

Let me tell you a little story about my life, friends.

I wouldn’t be a photographer if I had allowed fear to control me. I wouldn’t be six years into vocal lessons if I allowed fear to control me. I wouldn’t travel all over the country if I allowed fear to control me. I wouldn’t have the friends that I have if I allowed fear to control me. I wouldn’t exercise daily if I allowed fear to control me. I wouldn’t be ME if I had let the fear get to me all those years.
Here’s the truth: we all have fear. ALL of us. But you know what we don’t all have? Courage.

But none of us are born with courage. In fact, I think quite the opposite is true. I think we’re all born like the Lion in the Wizard of Oz. We all cried as babies, we got scared easily, and we cried a lot out of fear.

And then we grew up, and we all were given a choice: do we continue to stay as the Cowardly Lion, or do we lean on the Wizard (God) and allow Him to help us to become the incredible humans He created us to be?

We allow fear to be our excuse. We say “oh, that’s not my thing” or we say “I don’t have time” or we say “I’ll get to that.”

But guess what! You won’t get to that, until you choose to let that fear go, and take the risk. We will ALWAYS have time for the things we truly want, friends. Every single one of us who has “made it” or who is “living their best life” made a choice. Made a choice to leave the lion and join the Wizard (God) in becoming everything we were made to be and see all that we were made to see and make the difference that we were created to make.

So walk with me friends. Leave the Lion, and lean on Him. Let’s follow the yellow brick road together.
