Where’s the “easy” button?
I had that question pop into my head this past week.
I wanted that red “easy” button that is advertised all over the place.
But then I realized that red button isn’t real life.
Nothing in this life that I have today is from the easy button. I’ve never had that easy button. I worked for everything.
And the truth is friends, we were never promised easy for this life.
Just LIVING in and of itself at times is a challenge.
This past week I was feeling very overwhelmed, overworked, with no time for sleep or rest, and I wondered where that button was. I longed to just take the easy route for once, and take a break from so much work.
But that’s not how life was meant to be, or how it was designed to be.
Jesus died on the cross.
He died on the cross for OUR sins. He suffered for hours just so we can have a chance. A chance to breathe, a chance to live, and a chance to work hard here on this earth.
And I think many times we forget about our ultimate goal in this life. We get so focused on the day to day things, the inconveniences, the exhaustion, and all of the piles of work and life’s distractions, that we forget.
Jesus didn’t NEED to live here on this earth to suffer. But He chose to. He did it for us, and no part of it was through an easy button.
It was through sacrifice, love, and selflessness.
He suffered for our sins, and the mistakes that we make day in and day out. He had nails stabbed into his hands, for us. He suffered and worked and lived just as we do, and nothing was handed to Him.
And I think the best we can do is live our lives for Him. Live our lives not taking the “easy” way.
This life wasn’t meant to be easy. It was meant to be a life of purpose, with one end goal: to ultimately in the end, enter those radiating gates of heaven, where He awaits for us with open arms.
