My 2018 started off great!
I was so dang excited to begin working towards new goals, to start new projects, build new relationships, build a healthier lifestyle, and was ready to experience what I hoped would be my best year yet.
I must say, 2018 was definitely a year that caught me by surprise. In so many ways, but particularly in the direction of how busy my schedule got and the way that it never stopped.
I started the year off busy, but once April of this year hit, as soon as that weather outside was like Spring, I felt like I didn’t take a single breather (and I still haven’t).
Most days my car is my kitchen, at times it’s been a bed, many weeks I find myself living out of a suitcase, free weekends aren’t a thing, sleeping in is something that isn’t even an option, and a night off or a night in for Netflix brought MAJOR guilt every time I would relax.
It’s been a BUSY year to say the least, friends.
I love what I do SO MUCH that it’s really hard for me to say no, but because of that I’ve sacrificed a lot of things this year ((and a lot of sleep)).
And I feel so so fortunate and blessed for that. God is SO good. And I don’t want it to stop.
I would not trade this life for anything in the whole world, but wanted this to serve as a reminder to you friend, that there’s nothing glamorous about being busy. it’s not the cool thing to do.
It’s not a badge of honor.
It’s a lifestyle that I need to maintain at the moment for my business, but being THIS busy is absolutely not something that I intend to maintain for the long run.
I have plans I’m making and strategies for how I will approach this in the year to come, because there really isn’t anything glamorous about a calendar having something written in each square for every single day of the week.
So please never look at someone else’s life and envy it. Not only do we not know what is in their heart, but many times we don’t know the journey it took for them to reach that point, or how hard they are working to maintain the lifestyle they lead.
Let’s stop comparing one schedule next to the other, or measuring one’s busyness to their success.
Let’s live our own lives one day at a time. Let’s find joy in the simple moments. The in-between moments that take us away from the busy day-to-day activities.
Let’s live. We only have one life. So let’s live ours.
xoxo
