Love Is Christmas

Checkout lines in the stores are longer.

Traffic is more backed up at all the intersections.

Family is waiting for you to get to the party.

Gifts are unwrapped.

Gifts aren’t bought yet.

Store hours aren’t convenient.

Ingredients are missing from your recipe you were going to bring to dinner.

Someone calls and asks you to run an errand for them.

The to-do list keeps getting things added on.

love

This season. This day.

Christmas Eve. The day before Christmas, one of the most commercialized holidays to exist.

And through this holiday which is tomorrow, little inconveniences seem to come right along with it. Little things like unwrapped gifts, backed up traffic, longer lines, shorter hours, etc.

And we tend to get so caught up in those inconveniences – the little things that annoy us around this time of year.

What we don’t realize is the love all around.

Love is Christmas. And love is all around on this beautiful celebration of the birth of Jesus.

So when the gifts are unwrapped, and the string of lights on the tree stops working, or when the recipe you’re baking doesn’t turn out, or things don’t go as planned – when all those little things happen during this season, let’s not forget how insignificant those things are. How little they matter in the grand scheme of things.

Because with all of those little inconveniences also comes more charitable people around. Comes individuals more willing to share with others and open up. Comes family gatherings where there’s laughter and celebrating and love.

Love.

Jesus our Savior shows us love every single day. He shows us what that love means. What sacrifice means. What joy means. And that this holiday is meant to celebrate that love that He bestows upon us every single day.

Love is not a toy; it’s joy.

xoxo
