My dear friend Hannah and I are hosting a workshop in two days for beginner photographers, and in preparation for it, it has had me thinking back to my beginning days as a photographer.
Gosh, looking back it feels like I knew nothing those (almost) six years ago that I picked up my first DSLR. And I only dreamt of being where I am today. DREAMT of it. If I went back in time today and told seventeen year old Teresa where I’d be now, I’d probably cry happy tears.
My very first pictures I ever took make me cringe for days, but with every cringe, there’s a moment of “wow, I did it.”
I’m so proud. Proud of how far I have come in these six years. Proud of the hours upon hours upon HOURS of time that I have put into this business of mine, and to see how far I have come, from where I began.
And this is just a reminder to YOU my friend, that we all have to start somewhere. We all have a beginning to this dream of ours that we are chasing. And many times that begins with us having absolutely no clue what we’re doing, but we take the leap anyway.
And wow, how cool is it that I get to look back all these years later with happy tears in my eyes, that I get to teach others about this beautiful journey that they too can live, and get to do what they love so much.
This is a reminder to all of us wherever we are in our journey, whether we are three months in or twenty years in, we will never know it all. There’s ALWAYS more to learn, and we should always invest in learning + education.
None of us are smarter or better than others. We’re all just living a dream we once imagined.
xoxo
