How To Blog A Wedding Day

Education, Tips

YAY you photographed the wedding day!! Let me be the first to say congratulations. Your job is not easy, and you should celebrate the fact that you just captured memories that will be preserved for years to come.

Now it’s time to blog that day, and you’re feeling stuck. You may be asking yourself:

How many images should I share in the blog? How soon after the wedding should I post the blog? What do I even say?

Ask no more! I’m here to answer alllll of your wedding blogging questions.

Okay so first, it’s entirely up to you on how many images you share from the wedding day. I typically share between 40 and 80. I know that’s a wide range, but it always depends on how big the wedding was, how long I was there, and what I want to highlight from their day.

I always love to share photos from every portion of the couple’s day, and that helps tell the story and give a real visual and feel from the day.

I typically share the blog post the week following their wedding date. So if their wedding was on a Saturday, typically I’ll be out with a blog post the following Tuesday or Wednesday.

I know I know what you’re thinking: “omg how do I edit the images that quickly??”

But if you sit down and set aside a couple of hours, you should be able to crank out the editing and blog post within 2-3 hours.

One plus side to coming out with a blog post that soon after their wedding, is the excitement is still in the air. All of their family members and friends are dyyyying to see photos, and see themselves in photos. So take the time to create a blog post, because then you can share that on your social media, and your bride and groom and their family members will start sharing your blog post, which will ultimately also give more exposure to your site. Win-win, right??

And finally, what to say:

First and foremost, share moments from their day. I like to voice record myself right after I leave a wedding day, because how the day felt is still fresh in my mind. I give details and tell a story. So from there, I transpose my recording into words for my blog, and tell a story of every couple’s day. Every day is different, so it shouldn’t feel too difficult to come up with this. In addition, you don’t need to write that many words. Around 300 is a good number.

One other key thing to do for every wedding day blog post?

Tag all of their vendors!

Prior to every wedding day, I ask all of my couples to list all of their vendors out. This is great for you, because if you share all of the vendors information in the blog post, not only is that great for them sharing it on their own platforms, and sharing your photos, but great for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes for those individuals searching those vendors in Google. Another win-win 🙂

Okay, now you’re ready to blog every wedding day, and do so with a simple action plan, ready to conquer the wedding day blog world!

xoxo
