Med students, runners, life partners.
I heard Vanessa and Ben’s story awhile back, and as soon as Vanessa told me all the details of the two of them, I was so excited to photograph their beautiful love story, and tell it through my lens.
Vanessa and Ben met through a running club about four years ago. They’re both long distance runners, and told me that they used running as an outlet to break up all of the studying. They were both medical students, and with the intensity of the studying and tests, running was the perfect way for them both to catch a break.
They didn’t know that the other was a medical student until they both just so happened to meet in the running club. Time passed, and as their love grew for one another, so did their hobbies. They would study together at coffee shops throughout the area, and many times would go out on runs together.
Ben proposed during church on Easter of this year, during the church service. After the service was over, he properly proposed to Vanessa (down on one knee), she accepted, and here they are now, getting married in less than a month!
Ben, Vanessa, and I went to an East Peoria, IL trail for their engagement session. It was a beautiful early Autumn day with the leaves just beginning to fall onto the trail.
They wanted to incorporate running into their photos as well, so they went for a run during their session, and it was at that moment I knew they were truly in their element. Laughter, smiles, and fast feet completed our session on the trails.
Afterwards, we headed to Thirty-Thirty Coffee to capture them studying and in their med student element.
Medical books, cuddles, and love completed our session, and I left Thirty-Thirty Coffee with a smile on my face and a heart filled with warmth.
These two are so loving with one another. They encourage each other, and have that special bond that is rare. That bond and love for similar hobbies and professions. They did life together while medical students, and they now have forever to go. Ben and Vanessa will tie the knot about one week from now, and I.cannot.wait.
