Have you ever woken up on a Monday morning and thought to yourself “ugh! I don’t want to get out of bed!!” Or thought to yourself every single new week “ew Monday’s suck.”?
Because I know I have.
And I think most of us do.
There are few people I’ve met that say “I can’t wait for the weekend to end so that Monday will come!”
Because Monday’s mean a new week of work. It’s the furthest away from the weekend you’ll be, and it means waking up early after maybe either a weekend of sleeping in or a weekend of being free from responsibility.
Well, I had a wake-up call recently.
I began thinking more and more about the “Monday’s suck” mentality. And I can’t help but think so many of us wake up with that mindset week after week because it’s been engrained into our brains for years that THAT is the mindset we should have starting each and every new week. That Monday’s are automatically a bad day. That when anything happens we can just say “ugh it’s Monday” and move on with our negative attitudes.
Well friends, I did a little calculation.
There are roughly 52 weeks in a year. That means 52 Monday’s.
I’m 22 years old, so I calculated to see roughly how many Monday’s I’ve lived so far, and that number is 1,144. Over 1,100 days!!!
I’m not one to typically buy into the “Monday’s suck” mindset, but I have been known to hate Monday’s before. So let’s pretend for a minute that I did program my mind to hate every Monday. Then, that would mean that I wasted 1,144 days of my LIFE so far hating that day. And for no reason whatsoever! Hating it, purely because society has allowed me to believe that I should hate it.
Once I came to this realization I freaked out a little.
I’m done saying “Monday’s suck.” Rather, I’m going to strive to make Monday’s my favorite day of the week. It might take time, but I’m going to work on it.
Friends!!! It’s the BEGINNING TO A BRAND NEW WEEK. A fresh start. A clean slate. We all crave a fresh start from time to time don’t we? I know I do.
We live a limited number of days on this earth. Let’s not waste another single one on hating a day. Let’s live each day as if it was our last, as if it was our one chance to start fresh. We’ll waste a lot less days of our lives on hate, and spend a lot more of our days on love.
