People, stories, love, beauty, memories: all things that mean the most to me.
Everyone has a story, and everyone tells theirs differently. My heart yearns to know anyone and everyone. My heart longs to know each individual’s story, and what got them to where they are today. My heart longs to capture love in a single shutter, and to capture a memory that will last in one single image, for generations to come. My heart longs to capture those most precious moments that are so rare, and so beautiful.
We live in a world where so many individuals focus on the negative rather than the positive. We dwell on the bad news that we hear, our troubles, and everything that is wrong with us, rather than all of the strengths that we hold within us.
This world is so beautiful. It’s filled with beams of light at 6:00 in the morning. It’s filled with bodies of crystal clear, blue water. It’s filled with flowers blooming from the ground. With green, full trees. With smiles and laughter. With hands touching and lips kissing and hair blowing and fingers lacing, and love. Love all around us.
A couple of years ago I created a series for one of my Photography classes in college, and the series was on insecurities. Through doing the series, I came to find out that so many of us focus in many ways more on our insecurities and what may not be “perfect” about us, rather than focusing on our strengths, our talents, our beauty, and the way that God created us to be.
I’m not a photographer because it’s just a job I needed. I’m not a photographer just so I can take pictures of people here and there, deliver the images, and never speak to them again. I’m not a photographer so I can take awkward prom pose type of photographs.
I AM a photographer to capture stories. I am a photographer to build relationships, communities, and lifelong friendships. I am a photographer for those times when those I photograph see the photos that I have taken of them and cry with happiness and out of emotion, because they at last see the beauty within them. I am a photographer to capture love and the beautiful love that a couple shares. I am a photographer to capture meaning in memories, and ones that will last a lifetime.
That, my friends, is why I do what I do. That is why I continue to work hard and fight for my business, because I believe in capturing the beauty in this world, and I believe in love, and I believe that every single individual is beautiful in their most perfect way, and we all deserve to believe that.
So let’s go out into the water, into the field, and into the mountains and let’s capture love + beauty. Let’s get our clothes wet, let’s splash around, and let’s feel the tall grass around us. Let’s capture memories to live on, and celebrate this incredible world that we get to live in.
