When I was first starting out in photography seven years ago, I was dyyyying to know how photographers created effortless photos that look natural. I was dying to know how they got their couples to feel comfortable. And I was aching to know how to capture candid photos while having fun.
After giving it a lot of thought back then, I realized one of my most favorite things in the entire world was and still is music.
It’s therapy to me. It’s a way for me to de-stress. A way for me to get pumped up. A way for me to channel all emotions, and has been such a game-changer in my life and business.
So I started bringing a portable speaker to all of my photo shoots, and haven’t looked back since.
The #1 way I make sure my couples feel comfortable during photo shoots?
I play music!
It’s something I’ve done since the beginning and continue to do so to this day.
I have a playlist for my couples, for bridal parties, for weddings, etc. and I’m constantly adding my favorite and my couples favorite songs to it.
I bring a speaker, and basically it’s the best way to allow my couples to feel like themselves, jam out to music, and fully invest in the moment and tone of the magic we’re creating.

Photographers, BIG TIP: play music during all of your sessions. Guarantee you won’t regret it!!
One other tip: if you’re using Spotify Premium, make sure to download your playlist ahead of time, so when you’re out in areas without a signal, you’ll still have that music blasting.
